Ascent Trip Report

Had a sort of unexpected day off, so figured I should climb this while I can since I see it every day. Lots of snow packing the entire route, and I found out my boots are no longer water proof. But the weather so incredibly perfect that I didn't mind all that much. In the upper portions of the route the snow completely took over and I had to start kicking steps into the snow in order to keep moving upwards.

Finally, just about 300 hundred feet below the southern shoulder of the peak, I came to a sort of head wall of snow at ~50 degree slope and had to put on my crampons and take out my ice axe. Once on the shoulder though its a pretty easy walk up to the peak. Looking at the register it looks like it gets a lot more visitors than the other peaks nearby.

Anyway, this was my first for real snow climb (i.e. really needing crampons in order to make steps) and it was a blast! I couldn't have asked for a nicer day.
