Ascent Trip ReportThe last good weather day of the hiking season for the high Cascades. Came across a couple clearing the trail on the way up, but not sure if they were planning to summit. This is on tribal land, but there were no prohibitory signs at any point. The trailhead begins right on the south east corner of where the powerlines cross the dirt road (4220?), and there is a small parking area on the west side of the road.
The trail crosses the PCT after only a few hundred feet, picking up directly across from where it joins. It is a well graded, wide, and easy to follow trail into the sub-alpine, where it then becomes more of a climbers path, though still quite easy to follow without snow. I passes the trail crew 2-2.5 miles up, but there was some good-sized trees down across the trail after that. Because I joined back up with the trail part way down on the descent, I don't know how far up they managed to clear. There were very thin patches of snow on the north side, probably from the storm systems that moved through NW Oregon on the 12th and 14th.
There was minor rockfall across the trail at a steep rocky stretch pretty close to the top - a soccer ball sized rock tumbled by. It was audible from a few hundred feet up and not rocketing down, but I wouldn't have wanted to be in its way!
Amazing views from the summit and at spots along the trail.
