Ascent Trip Report

An excellent little scramble. Heart Mountain is one of my favourites in the CDN Rockies, simply due to its dry nature (rarely snow covered) and the amount of neat terrain and good views which open up without too much effort. This has always made it a suitable season opener in the Rockies. The scrambling route is via the rocky rib, which later becomes an airy little ridge, on the north side of the mountain. There are a couple of challenging steps which can be tricky if wet or frozen, esp on the way down. Luckily, everything was in good condition this time. This wasn't the first time I'd climbed Heart, but I do not remember the previous exact dates from 94' and 97'. - In this instance, I was solo and was able to get up and down the peak in about four hours.
