Ascent Trip Report

Was on the island for the annual trip to visit the Girlfriends parents at Spider Bay Marina. Dale and I area always looking for fun hikes and peaks. We had done the Cup and Saucer the year before and wanted to try something different. After looking around for a bit, we found a new trail that had opened in July 2012 up Wikwemikong hill on the reservation. We drove out to check it out and found a two trail system (Red and Yellow) up and around the hill.

The trail wound its way up the north-east side of the hill and stopped at a few outstanding views of the west side of Georgian Bay, the islands and Wiky Bay. It was very clear that day, so we managed to catch good views of the La Cloche Mountains across the channel. There are interpretive signs throughout explaining the history of the area and the sights you are seeing.

All in all a very good trail and a fun afternoon hike!
