Ascent Trip ReportExcellent hiking weather. Went up the Wapack Trail and down the Marion Davis trail. Wapack started pretty steep with some fun scrambling up the switch backs. There are some great views across to Mount Monadnock. As you get higher you switch into a nice pine forest and the trail levels off. It's very rooty and rocky, so you have to be careful. The summit has some nice views. The real key to getting a good view is to climb the fire tower where you get a great 360 degree view. Despite a relatively hazy day we could see Boston, Manchester, Vermont's green mountains, as well as Mt. Cardigan and Kearsarge. The trip down was a very consistant grade. Never steep or challenging at all. For a weekend day on an extremely accessible area, there weren't all too many people here. A lot - but nothing compared to Monadnock.
