Ascent Trip ReportFollowing my earlier bag of Cannon Mountain, my way down led me over its eastern peak. From the key col, the way up was very quick. Only a couple minutes or so. I was already running down from the main summit and I carried on up this one. I quickly reached it without stopping, and then kept going downhill along the Kinsman Ridge trail.
My feet were starting to ache a bit as I had chosen to wear my trail running shoes and I was totally not in any hiking or running shape this year. Still, I was able to race down the mountain to the tramway base parking in 35 minutes passing only one couple hiking down. At the bottom, I couldn't find the Pemi trail, and wound up on the bike path. After getting somewhat lost and ending up at the Old Man viewpoint, I backtracked and went on the bike path on the eastern side of highway 93, which I followed down all the way to the campground. This last leg took me 45 minutes, including the initial wandering at the Old Man.
Back at camp, Luiza and I lounged while preparing our stuff for the next day's hike and trying to light a fire with the dampest wood ever bought from the camping. We failed to light the fire before getting sick of it and went to sleep. |
