Ascent Trip Report

Following Gary Suttle's road directions in his "California County Summits," I drove the very rough, unpaved Trabuco Canyon Rd 4.7 miles from Live Oak Canyon Rd to park just beyond the volunteer fire department building. About 1/2 mile up Holy Jim Rd, the road ends at a gate and the Holy Jim Trail begins, switchbacking to meet the Main Divide Truck Trail near Bear Springs. From here the road winds another 3 miles to the summit and its numerous antennas and microwave dishes.. Despite the summit clutter, there are good views in all directions from a perimeter road. There are also remains of an old fire lookout.
