Ascent Trip Report

About 1 mile west of the Eel River Bridge, turn up the Blands Cove/Ham Pass Rd (FSR 24N21). Approx 0.5 mile beyond Ham Pass (9 miles), park at the TH (4,750') for Leech Lake Mountain--there is no sign. The trail is an old but good dirt road, gated. I enjoyed the 3-mile hike to Leech Lake (5,900'--9:40A),from which I followed the trail to its crest, a saddle overlooking the Middle Eel Canyon. From here it was an easy scramble with about 300' elevation gain to the summit (10:15-11:00A). Good views of the Yolla Bolly Wilderness and Round Valley. After a leisurely break on top, I headed back to the TH (1:05P)
