Ascent Trip ReportI exited Yosemite N.P. at Big Oak Flat on CA 120 and drove several miles to the turnoff to paved FR 20. I followed it for 8 miles to Five Corners, where the Old Coulterville and Old Yosemite Roads meet. From here it is 9 miles via the Old Coulterville Rd to Trumbull Peak L.O. I headed west on the unpaved Old Coulterville Rd toward Pilot Peak, 3 miles distant. After 2 miles I parked at the gated spur road, enjoying the beautiful 1+-mile afternoon stroll up to Pilot Peak and the L.O. No one on duty today. Nice to find only the L.O. and the area free of the all too frequent unsightly communication facilities. Very striking views of distant snowy peaks, with Mt. Clark and Mt. Ritter and Banner Peak standouts.
