Ascent Trip ReportFrom Lakeview drive on OR 140 8 miles from its junction with U.S. 395 to FSR 3615. (This turnoff is across the highway from Warner Rd, the approach for Drake Mountain). On FSR 3615 proceed 1/2 mile, turn right for 1.4 miles on old OR 140, then left onto FSR 3915. This paved road becomes gravel in about 4 miles and continues with good signage through a wide 4-way intersection at 5.3 miles and after 11.8 miles meets FSR 4011 on the right. In 0.7 miles FSR 4011 passes Willow Creek C.G. and, turning from gravel to rough, single track about 3 miles from the C.G., continues to the Crane Mountain Overview and site of the former L.O. If the road is not blocked, drive to the destination. 4WD recommended. Uncertain of the terrain ahead, I elected to park at a convenient pullout about 1/4 mile from the end of the gravel section of FSR 4011 and walked to the Overview, a distance of about 2.5 miles. Soon after leaving my Toyota 4Runner I encountered a fallen tree across the road, closing it to peakbagging vehicles. From here I hiked XC about a mile south to Crane Mountain.
