Ascent Trip ReportFrom Green Springs Rd go 0.8 mile to Rock River Rd, then 1.7 miles to a green Powder River gate. Rushing Mountain is in plain view. Crawl through the gate onto private property and follow the good ranch road about 1.5 miles to the top of this modest hill, which is very noticeable to traffic on CA 120. Calfire's Big Hill L.O. is located on the summit area, as are three dilapidated sheds and communication antennae. The frame and cab of the L.O. are sturdy enough, but the cab appears to have been ransacked The USGS marker in a concrete slab is inscribed "Big Hill," which is Rushing Mountain's alternative name.
