Ascent Trip Report

On day one, Rick, Al, John and I backpacked from the Big Pine Creek Trailhead to Willow Lake, where we set up camp. On day two, our group dayhiked Mount Gayley via Glacier Notch and the peak's class 3 Southwest Ridge Route. From Willow Lake, we hiked cross country up the drainage to the start of the snow in the cirque located between Temple Crag and Mount Gayley, put on crampons and got the ice ax out, then cramponed up the snow to Glacier Notch, where we stashed the ice gear. Next, the four of us climbed a series of class 3 ledges on the south side of the ridge to the top. Later, we retraced our route back to Willow Lake. On the day three, we backpacked out to the car.
