Ascent Trip Report

This trip started out as a week long backpack to climb peaks located in Evolution Valley. However, our group turned around at Lake 11623' in upper Darwin Canyon after four days of slugging it out in extensive snow, some of which required an ice ax and crampons to walk on in the morning, and by the afternoon was hard to walk on soft snow. Rick, Al and I did manage to climb Mount Lamarck on the third day on the way out from about 200' below the southwest side of Lamarck Col by contouring up to the summit from just below the peak's south ridge.
