Ascent Trip Report

From US 56 NE of Clayton, NM. I turned right on Rinker Rd. about 2 mi. before the state line (sorry, I can't be precise, I didn't watch the odometer on the way out). In 0.9 mi I veered right on an unsigned rd. (continuation of the same?) and followed it another 3.6. mi. until I was roughly due east of the hp coordinates. There I found a barbed wire gate (unlocked and unsigned), the kind with a loop of wire around a fencepost--I had trouble reshutting it on my way out. A track heads west from here amidst cattle to water tanks. I parked there, 0.46 mi. from the hp coordinates. I might have driven farther across the dry ground toward the coordinates, but it looked like an easy walk, and I did't want to damage the ground. The area looks flat but slopes very slightly upward, I'm guessing 4-5 feet elevation gain over the slightly less than half mile walk. The routes described in earlier COHP trip reports approached from the south and sound like they leave a slightly longer walk.
