Ascent Trip Report

This hike took in the three summits. I ascended from the base of the BigRock chair lift at the north end of Graves Rd, starting with the Bunny Slope run, the Chair Trail, then Uncle Bud's Run. At the top of the chair lift, I hiked south along the road which led me to the summit of Mars Hill. The actual summit is marked by a cement block located next to a picnic table and an old flagpole. There's a sheltered picnic table and a fire pit a short distance away.

I then followed an adjacent hiking/ATV trail which leads back to the top of the chairlift area, then followed the hilly road to the North Summit. I retraced my route back to the Middle Summit, then back to the top of the chair lift area, then descended via the Upper Comet, Comet, and Uncle Bud's Run ski runs back to the parking lot.

Total hiking time 3.5 hours.

An alternative to hiking up the ski hills is the gravel access road at the north end of the mountain, but the gate was locked on the Saturday I hiked up. I'm not sure if it's ever unlocked for the general public. If it's not, you can probably park your vehicle near the gate and hike up from there.
