Ascent Trip Report

This was a 6 day backpack to climb Bolton Brown and Pyramid Peak. From the junction of the John Muir Trail and the South Fork of the Kings River, John Fisanotti and I took the trail to Bench Lake, then we went cross country to Arrow Pass. From the pass, we headed west down the other side before turning south towards upper Arrow Creek. We made our way down Arrow Creek to the north side of Lake 3200 Meters, which has a small island in it, then went east up a sand slope, then turned south along the base of some cliffs and continued up through a sand and scree gully to the peak’s west ridge. Next, we climbed up the ridge towards the top. John dropped out about 700’ below the summit to save energy for the return trip while I continued up the ridge to the summit. The entire route from Arrow Creek is mostly class 2 with some class 1 mixed in. Please see my 08/30/2005 Bolton Brown trip report for additional trip stats and info.
