Ascent Trip Report

Climbed the Welch-Dickey loop on an extremely hot Saturday morning. Trip up Welch was outstanding. It was steeper than I had anticipated with some good climbs and scrambles near the top of Welch. The trip down Welch into the shoulder is also quite steep. After that it's a pretty moderate climb up Dickey and down the other side. Once you hit the large carin in the shoulder between the two you're exactly half way, and the hardest is behind you. Nice breeze in the shade at the shoulder. Good place to recover. Met some nice people. There was a volunteer on the Welch Ledges with great information about the gardens. We also met a very friendly British couple on holiday, avoiding the olympics back home. It was a great trip and I'd love to do this loop hike again.
