Ascent Trip ReportGREAT day of hiking to this peak with Nathaniel. We found our way this time! Hiked 6.5 miles up the Aqua Tibia trail to the Palomar Divide. The next 1 mile to the summit took over an hour - LOTS of downed trees and undergrowth. At times we crawled on our hands and knees to get through the brush. Large ducks on a long tree marking the final trip up - we used GPS and plotted our waypoint, which is pretty much the only way that we were able to find our way out (after loosing what little trail there was). Overall very enjoyable, except for the crawling on all fours through manzanita and buckthorn. Found 3 bench marks - perfect day in the mountains with a great guy! Nice to be at the summit after not finding it the first time around!
You MIGHT want to consider garden gloves or shears in hiking through - the under grown is pretty incredible.
