Ascent Trip Report

Named for Dr. Chase Ambler, who was instrumental in the formation of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Dr. Ambler's summer home, Rattlesnake Lodge, is a historic site along the Mountain-to-Sea Trail NE of Asheville.

Without GPS, the nondescript summit would be easy to miss--about 20 yards SE of the AT as it crests the 6080 contour coming up from Newfound Gap.
