Ascent Trip Report

I visited Mary's Rock during an out-and-back run along the AT starting and ending at Jewell Hollow Overlook. On my way, I saw a black bear 20 feet from the trail, and when it heard me, it quickly darted deeper into the woods. No chance of getting out the camera; it was long gone.

I enjoyed ten minutes of fun scrambling at the top of Mary's Rock, noticing the benchmark disk and two reference markers placed along the row of jagged rock pillars forming the true summit.
