Ascent Trip ReportThis was a pleasant surprise. I thought the road would be a bit sketchy, but it was excellent all the way from east to west. We picked up Jones Mountain Road from Buffalo Road at the well marked sign. Coming from the east you will get to the crest at about 3.75 miles. Great views to the northwest just past the powerlines at the overlook. HP is likely closer to the road than is shown on Peakbagger. At least that is what my GPS said. I continued all the way out Jones Mountain road, past where it turned into Pine Creek Hollow Road to I could go for the Buffalo Mountain liner. This took over 12 miles to get to Stony Run Road, but was worth it, as about a mile west of the high point, we saw a yearling Black Bear just off the road. We watched him/her/it for a bit, then headed out to Stony Run and Buffalo MT.
