Ascent Trip Report

A short woods track walk ...... 1.4km, 45 minutes RT.

From the village of Saint-Zacharie where hwy 295 makes a 90 degree turn, I drove south on 15e Avenue (changes names on the way) for 4.8km to a left turn at the T-Junction with 2e Rang, 2.8km (east) I passed Route de la Frontiere on the right and continued straight .9km to a chained-off dirt road on the right (no warning signs).
The following route described here is clearly shown on the Google Satellite map.

I walked south up the dirt road .2km to a bunch of old abandoned buildings besides 2 ponds (the left (east) pond is higher in elevation than the other).
I walked left, around the east side of the pond, where an overgrown grass track heads south. At a height-of-land .3km from buildings a lesser track leaves to the left for the USA/Canada Boundary Line Swath at 100 meters (a blue plastic drainage tube for maple sap is beside the track). A Hunter's Stand and salt lick trap sits beside the swath.

The Boundary Line makes an acute angle at this spot and the tall cast iron Boundary Monument 318 (Aug 9th, 1843) sits right at the tip of the angle ...... the base was rebuilt in 1990. My GPS 46.09992,-70.28590.

The high ground is not at the Monument but 80 meters to the south (westbound) on the tall grass covered Swath. An animal path leads to the high ground.
I found a BM, embedded in concrete, right on the Boundary Line high ground at 80 meters "Unites States/Canada 318 No 2.", my GPS 46.09935,-70.28523. I added orange tape to the near-by trees.

From the road to this high ground it's about .75km, the place was full of deer flies.
