Ascent Trip Report

PB shows 3 candidate High Point Areas for this county, I had to make 2 trips in order to visit the 3 Areas.

VISIT # 1 on 2011-05-11 ..... AREA 1
We were on our way to Quebec City to watch our Grand daughter play hockey in a Hockey Tournament, didn't have time to take in the other 2 Candidates.
VISIT #2 on 2012-07-03 ..... AREAS 2 & 3
Came back to complete the County while on a one week County High Pointing trip southwest of Quebec City.

We drove to Pointe Sainte Gilles and from intersection of Hwy 116 and Chemin du Moulin we drove southeast on Chemin du Moulin 1km to the bridge over Beaurivage River and the start of Chemin St Thomas. The road bends left (northeast) 1.7km to a woods track on the right, we pulled in here and parked.
I ended up choosing more than one spot as my high ground, the PB coordinates puts it in a lower elevation.
a) I walked up the track 50 yards to an obvious left-right ridge, I walked both directions before settling/choosing my high ground at a spot to the west (right) of the track at 60 yards, GPS 46.59748, 71.33947.
b) I continued 250 yards up the little-used woods track to the high ground then stomped in both directions, choosing another spot about 150 yards west (right) of the track, in the area of another well used track. Two small bumps within 50 feet, I choose the one at a GPS reading of 46.59620, 71.33892.

From Saint-Etienne-de-Lauzon, intersection 116/171, I drove south on 171 over the bridge to a right turn on Ste-Anne, .5km left on Chemin da la Savane, .4.4km right(west) on Chemin Petree, 6.6km to the end of the dirt road (cabled-off) and the start of a grass road, signed "Solifor Privee" ..... a lumbering company owned by the worker,s union FTQ. I parked here this was my TH (should have parked at a pull-off to the right just before the cable).
I walked the winding grass road southwesterly (stayed left at fork) for about 1km to a Power Transmission Line with a wide right-of-way. To the left is a Tower at 100 meters and just before is a small obvious ridge. Nothing obvious, I walked the ridge and chose my spot at the far (west) side of the right-of-way, GPS 46.57664,-71.33170.
When I returned to my TH a Solifor employee was checking the cabled-off attachments. They have no problem with hikers, it's the ATVers that are a problem for them. He wasn't aware of County High Pointing.

AREA 3 (eastern area)
From the intersection of 73/218 I drove north on 73 for 1.9km and parked on the side of the 4 lane highway, just past sign "Saint-Jean-Chrysostome" and road marker "KM117". A very flat area with dense woods, after checking the area I could not find a spot, impossible, especially with the road construction.
