Ascent Trip ReportCrossed col between Maude and 7FJ with intent to climb N face of Maude. Traversed high in hopes of not losing too much elevation in getting to N face. We were turned around by cliff bands but while attempting to descend the snow softened significantly in the first warm days of summer this year. Small sloughs came down, one right across our ropes. So we bailed, crossing back over col. Party members descended and I climbed Seven Fingered Jack via moderate snow slopes to get to the scree field. Found the climbers trail on the way down. Excellent glissade down chute off scree field, 1200' in 4 minutes!! |
