Ascent Trip Report

baldy is the second highest peak in Montana's big belt Mountain range.

the ascent was a mix of forest service trail, cross country, bushwacking, boulder scramble, and open crest.

access to the trailhead is a generally smooth logging road. Thank you logging companies for maintaining roads. park at the 7250 level, then walk to the f.s. trailhead, located at the north side of an open park.

11 mile roundtrip with 3400 gain. the ascent to the top of the peak is easy; the walk along he ridge crest is tricky, with big boulders and krumholz.
