Ascent Trip Report

This is one of the tougher hikes I have done. The elevation gain is substantial for the distance of the trail. It was very hot and I was very out of shape.

The trail is uphill most of the way, until you reach the ridge top, then you actually have a steady decline until you reach the end of the trail. The trail terminates at a granite slab which provides a great view to the east. At other points near the end, you can step off the trail to granite cliffs and enjoy a view to the south.

This appears to be a popular destination as the trail was quite crowded. This included hikers of experience as well as people wearing flip-flops. Take plenty of water. Overall a good trip. I have since completed this hike a second time. Very good workout for getting your "trail legs" underneath you.
