Ascent Trip Report

This is a four point county, but Artski and I narrowed it down to three. We came in from the southeast from Witoka. We parked next to the radio tower and the largest area on the gravel Blackberry Road. We saw a farmer on a tractor out in the field and we waited to see where he went. He returned to his house in the NW corner of the Blackberry and Hwy 12 intersection. We went there and asked him for permission and after some skepticism he agreed. He liked that we were "local boys" and he admired a large tractor "outfit" that drove by on the road. We then walked from his house up to the top and back. The field was planted with alfalfa. For the second point we walked up the road right of way to a point in the corner of two properties off the east side of highway 12 just south of the large point. This point doesn't look very high and probably isn't the highest. The next point to the south and west side of the road is obviously out of contention. The road is nearly as high and the final area across the interstate is much higher. Therefore we skipped this point. To get to the last point we drove southeast on 12 and took Pleasant Valley under I-90. We quickly took the first right and followed this road to a T intersection where we turned onto Farmview Road to the right. This soon becomes gravel as it turns into a frontage road. When we were nearing the end of the road we passed a truck leaving the farm that probably owns the highpoint. The people in the truck gave us a friendly wave as we passed. At the end of the road the gate was open and we took a quick stroll northwest to the high ground. It is a nice overlook of the interstate with views all around. There are unfortunately too many objects in the way of the first point to make a determination on which is highest.
