Ascent Trip Report

I "hiked" Rock Rimmon in Manchester, NH's west side with two of my friends.

We took the trail that started from behind the playground up the hill. It was fairly steep and a bit muddy in places, but nothing we couldn't handle. It soon leveled out and passed a patch, and then it made the climb to the top. After only about five or so minutes, we made it.

Rock Rimmon's summit is bare and has good views of Manchester and in other directions. All I could see for peaks were the socked-in Uncanoonucs. We took a break at a ledge and then explored a little.

We descended down a path, took a right, and saw a large rock face with a chimney-like thing to the left. Myself and another friend decided to attempt to climb the chimney. There were some problems with this attempt: the main one was that the chimney was wet; another one was that we didn't really have much experience in this type of climbing. We made it about 3/4 of the way up and then gave up. After getting back to solid ground, we continued with the walk.

We took the path we took to get to the rock face and continued on it to get back to the park. We swung on the swings for a while and then left.
