| Date: | Thursday, September 1, 2011 | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | Motorized Transport to Trailhead: | 4x4 Vehicle | Peak: | Glacier Point | Location: | USA-California | Elevation: | 7214 ft / 2198 m |
Ascent Trip ReportVisited Glacier Point for second time, this time with daughter and parents in addition to wife. No real hike required. The road to the visitor's center is closed in the winter and part of spring, but otherwise it's about a 20-min drive up Glacier Point Rd to the visitor's center parking lot. 4x4 vehicle not required. Once there, Glacier Point is an easy 0.3 mile walk north on the park service trails. It's not really a peak per se; more of a lookout, as the parking lot itself is actually higher. However, it's a beautiful lookout and well worth the drive. |
