Ascent Trip ReportI pakred at the south end ofthe Sawyer Camp trail hoping to run south on Skyline and East on Bunker Hill drive towards the Highlands Elementary school. This plan was thwarted however when it was very clear that Skyline was closed to all traffic. it looked like a lot of construction was going on, and I didn't feel like trying to navigate through a potentially dangerous contructuon site, so I was forced to take a left onto Crystal Springs Road, a right onto Polhemus Road (south), and another right onto bunker Hill Road (northwest). This added almost a couple extra miles.
Now that I was back on course I took a left onto Yorktown Road, and another left onto a road that looked like a utility company road. I had been climbing while wrapping around the summit for a while, but now it seemed i was heading directly up the side. I think I remember a no trespassing sign that wasn't clear whether it pertained to the road or the woodsy area around the road. I continued on in a southerly direction and the summit wasn't far from there. It wasn't very spectacular but I didn't have high expectations given a low prominence and also the area the summit was location (on the other side of I-280 as the Santa Cruz Mountains.
I went down the south side to see what it was like and there were some trails which led directly to the Highland Recreation Center. A sign there warning hikers of mountain lions made it clear that it was permitted to climb the summit, at least from the highlands Rec Center side of the hill. I took Monticello Road (parallel to Yorktown) back to Bunker Hill Road just for different scenary. From bunker hill I ran back the way I had come.
