Ascent Trip ReportAn outstanding small mountain, well worth the effort ...... 1 1/2 miles, 1h15 minutes.
William Musser TR of 2011 is a good read, this TR attempts to add driving/hiking detail.
From the intersection of Cantrell Road (hwy 10) and Chenal Parkway, west of I430, we drove north on Chenal Parkway (becomes hwy 300) 2.25 miles to a right on West Side Entrance Pinnacle Mountain State Park, 300 yards to the picnic grounds Parking Lot .... the West Summit Trail Head is at the kiosk north of the Parking Lot.
The West Summit yellow-blazed Trail climbs eastbound to the west summit. The last half of the trail is moderately steep with rock steps and boulders. The top of the mountain is all rock and boulders, rewarding the climber with an outstanding panorama of the whole area, and 70 yards further-on, the East Summit adds additional views.
