Ascent Trip Report

I parked a little past the Cobblers Brook Trail head on Winter St. The trailhead is marked with a "Merrimac Town Forest" sign.

There were blowdowns all over the place. In some instances I had to duck under and climb over branches and tree trunks.

Both trails had easy grades and were easy to follow for the most part. The Cobblers Brook Trail ascended gently to a pond, which was frozen and littered with junk. The trail was a little hard to follow at one spot near the pond, but other than that, it was wide and easy. After that, it climbed to a trail intersection. I turned right.

Shortly after I turned right, I turned left onto a short trail called the Doust Connector. Soon after that, I turned right at another intersection.

According to the the trail map I got online (thanks to Dave Dunham), I was basically at the summit. Sadly, it is viewless. I checked out the summit area and made a short deviation off the trail to find the general high point, although I don't consider it a true bushwhack.

After getting a picture, I went back down the way I came, checked out the pond, and went back to my truck.
