Ascent Trip Report

We took exit 41 off I-40. Left at the first stop, then right at the light, and right again in just a few feet onto Old US 66. Just past a church (less than half a mile), we took the next left. In 0.5 mi. my gps put the chp at 240 feet east of the road just behind a house. I met the very friendly owner in his driveway. He knew his property included the chp because of a previous chp visitor "years ago." Besides, he offered, "we can sit in our backyard and view the 4th of July fireworks down in Elk City" . The highest spot is a small mound just NW of his house. He said he wouldn't mind other chp visitors.

The Custer CHPis only 4.5 mi. north.
