3:38 PM PT depart Phelps Creek Trail #1511 at 3500 ft for Leroy Creek Trail (approx 3.2 miles).
5:06 PM PT depart Leroy Creek - Carne Mountain trail #1512 for campsites at middle basin (approx 2.0 miles).
6:27 PM PT arrived at lower campsites (approx 1.50 miles, 5200 ft).
6:38 PM PT ascended another quarter mile and stopped to refill water for next day's climb and realized we forgot water filter/treatment.
7:07 PM PT returned to lower campsites for overnight stay.
4.95 TTL daily mileage, 2712 calories burned.

Used half of our fuel to boil one gallon of water. Another group of climbers offered to let us use their filter.

8:01 AM PT depart lower campsite for summit attempt via Southwest slope approach.
1:30 PM PT turned around at narrow gully north (approx 8220 ft) of large bench (7800 ft). Slightly off trail. Very loose conditions. We approached the gully on the right of the ice field. Trail follows left of the ice field.
4:15 PM PT returned to lower campsite via prominent gully descent.
5:15 PM PT Packed up camp and departed for the car.
8:38 PM PT Arrived at car.
