Ascent Trip Report

Surpringly nice coastal dune trails. The HP shown in PB that I entereed is NOT the HP my bad. That spot elevation is a relic dredge spoil pile at elevation 13 and the dunes running along A1A are above elevation 20. The trail gets close to the top of the dune strucutre and in a few places it opens up enough to be able to crawl up thru the thick coastal scrub to get close enough to see the crest in several areas. It is impossible to know which exact place is slightly higher than another but it is above 20. My GPS said I reached 29 but the USGS does not believe that the ground has a 25 foot contour. Who knows? Pleasant hiking and I will contact Slayton about shifting the spot to the A1A dune ridge since the spoil mound is not correct
