Ascent Trip Report

I wanted to take hike Pawtuckaway South from the east side for a long time, and I finally did it today.

Took the Mountain Trail and South Ridge Trail up. The Mountain Trail passed by a pond and went on at easy grades. After about ten minutes, the trail forked. Went right on the Mountain Trail toward the base of the peak.

The trail was very muddy, which forced me to go off the trail in some spots. Other than passing by a few streams and small ponds, the hike on the Mountain Trail was kind of plain. After about 2 miles, there was an intersection. The South Ridge Trail, which led to the summit, was to the right, which we took.

There were some steep sections om the way to the summit. After about 15 or so minutes, we reached the top.

We had to wait at a ledge for a little while because there was a large group at the fire tower, which we wanted to climb. I took some video and pictures and drank a little before heading up the tower after the group left.

The views to the north and west were good, but the views to the south and east were a little obstructed because of the bright sun. We took in the view and then went down the tower and back to the trailhead.
