Ascent Trip ReportFollowed Tom's excellent Mill Creek, Whitfield CoHP report which is spot on.
After turning off GA136 at a Chestnut shooting range sign, followed FR212, creek crossing 4-5 inches deep guessing was fine even with rains today, left at fork, pass a fee parking area. FR212 was good gravel road, map shows it degrades as you drive further north but continued to stay good. Last few tenth of a mile it started to get slightly rougher. Road on map doesn't match actual driving road. I parked in a tight pull off here: 34.64823, -85.04827. 0.3 miles to the top in the rain.
Walked up a rocky reentrant/drainage area and started walking at an angle in open woods to the rocky top. Hopped around the various rocks knowing I was sitting on the county line. The PB mark is correct and the rock further north looks to be slightly lower. Last GA CoHP of the trip filling in the CoHP gaps I had on my map for GA. |
