Ascent Trip ReportClimbed Thar Peak via the north couloir.
Most of the climb was a steep snow climb, though some chunks of ice near the top
Took a poor detour up a gulley to the left after topping out the main section. Was not able to succeed with just my single ice axe, and took some dangerous slides.
My companion with an ice axe and ice tool did top out the 2nd gulley, but had to do a dangerous down climb afterwards, as he was faced with a dangerous wall separating him from the summit.
Descended down Nar's Bowl ski route (easy terrain, but many chunks with trees).
Do not underestimate based on the modest stats (7.5km, about 750m gain) the steepness of the couloir and the risk of falling makes for slow travel |
