Ascent Trip Report

I used Stav’s amazing TR, which has a great photo showing two distinct trees at the C3 crux. It’s the same spot where all my gpx squigglies are.
I followed the trail for a short distance until it deposited me into a wash… took the wash until it ended at a fork. Take the right option up a C2+ skinny gully. Keep going the only reasonable way until it seems there are no options left. Here is where there’s a ledge that blends in with the surroundings and can be difficult to spot. It then wraps to the C3 crux which has blocky steps. The bolt above the crux is still good, just need to bring your own rope if desired. However, the C3 crux is really steppy, solid, and short.
After this you’re just kinda meandering through the only places that make sense, you’ll be funneled the right way to reach the steep C2+ slope that will take you to the final summit ridge. It was cairned for me when I was here.

A day pass for Red Reef is now five dollah. And can be paid by scanning a code found at the un-humaned fee station. Or pay by cash and envelope.
