Ascent Trip ReportI had to hike by Mt Pinos and Sawmill Mountain on the way to Sawmill Mountain West which was the reason for my hike today. The approach to the trailhead is via the popular Mt Pinos Road and parking in the large parking lot provided. We hiked out the Mt Pinos trail, tagged the high point of that peak, continued along the trail to the overlook, then down to the saddle and back up to Sawmill Mountain. Sawmill Mountain West is one of those rare triple divide points and is not far from the Sawmill Mountain summit. Ken and I examined the area carefully and came up with a spot that looked like it could drain water into any of the three basins involved. Nice hike with some good views.
