Ascent Trip ReportI had wanted to hike here since seeing this mountain from across Lake Champlain at Mount Philo in Vermont. After 2 days of hiking the Adirondacks, thought this would be a nice easy hike before heading home. A very quiet place with hardly any other hikers. The trail doesn't quite go to the summit; we decided against bushwacking there, as we were in shorts and T-shirts, and it looked fairly thick towards the top. Went to the Ore Bed overlook and had nice views back to the Adirondacks and south towards Lake Champlain, though I had hoped for a better view of the Green Mountains. There are a few other trails with overlooks, so it seems like a nice place to return to for other days of easy hiking. |
