Ascent Trip ReportI did this one as a drive up at night after a twilight ascent of the two contenders on Ray Ridge. The round trip drive from the Asotin cohp and back to the saddle near the turnoff for Asotin and Garfield, via rough and narrow roads, took over an hour and a half.
The final road to the summit, from Pomeroy Grouse Road, is very, very rough and narrow. I maxed out on this final road at probably 12 mph, but spent most of the time between 5-10 mph. (Of course I drive a bit slower than some in an attempt to not blow out tires - or take an unplanned thousand-foot truck glissade - which has worked very well over the last 3 years of driving sometimes sketchy roads... knocking on wood.)
My high-clearance Ford Ranger hit bottom twice on ascent. No major issues; probably just rocks hidden in the grassy middle of the road.
Quite chilly on top.
There is an antenna at the summit.
