Ascent of Mount Ptolemy on 2022-09-18Date: | Sunday, September 18, 2022 | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | Peak: | Mount Ptolemy | Location: | Canada-Alberta/British Columbia | Elevation: | 9226 ft / 2812 m |
Ascent Trip ReportClass 5.2
Notes: A very loose peak with a lot of extreme exposure. Most of the ridge is class 3 except for a notch before the summit that requires 4th class down climbing (rope and rappelled on the way down into the notch. Used as a hand line on the way up out of the notch on the descent). From the notch, a ledge is followed on the climbers right to the crux slabs. We had an experienced team of climbers and felt that the safest option up was with a rope. The slabs go at about a 5.2. The slabs lead to the the ridge where there is a little more class 3 scrambling to the summit. We rappelled the slabs leaving tat on a boulder. |
