Ascent Trip ReportThis climb was part of a CBC-organised exploratory bushwalk of the Bombalwa Range. Started at 35.8679°S, 149.5467°E, then headed along the fire trail that goes in a generally NE direction (not Jerrabattgulla FT). At approx 35.8586°S, 149.5611°E, we headed off-track along the ridge - a gentle, open forest bushbash over low scrub, logs and rocks. Once we had reached and climbed this delightfully well preserved cairn-and-pole-and-vanes trig, we headed W (on the way, bagging the slightly higher point 300m WSW) and eventually settled for lunch aside Jerrabattgulla Creek - a gem of a spot in this forest. Then S back to where we left the FT, and on to the cars. 13.8km in 5h.50. 445m total ascent, including breaks and snuggling up to the trig. *We had also considered climbing Mt Italy nearby, but later decided to save it for another day. |
