Ascent Trip ReportA eastbound bushwack from Cheshire Road ....... 1km, 445 minutes RT.
I used the bushwack route described by Dave Dunham. From the hwy junction #9/8A in Windsor we traveled north on #8A for 1.8 miles to a left on Cheshire Road, .6 miles pulled-in the grass track on the left. Parked here, this was my TH, the summit is to the east.
I bushwacked generally east about half a mile to the summit. The first 100 yards is extremely boggy/wet (good thing I wore my old Scarpa boots) with some underbrush to contend with, after which the woods have patches of open woods and dense undergrowth/dead-fall to fight through. About 60-70 yards before the domed summit you have to pass through a barbed-wire fence, from here on is a beautiful maple forest, very open with a fern floor. The proprietor of the land collects the maple sap with a network of plastic tubing.
I walked the summit and chose my HP at a large tree, GPS 43.54300,-73.05776. I ascended in 18 minutes and descended in 12 minutes.
The boggy/wet area can be avoided by walking back on Cheshire Road 100 yards before starting the bushwack.
