Ascent Trip ReportAbove treeline, Sloan is a fun glacier + rock scramble with great views. Below treeline, it is 100% dumpster. It starts with one of the worst full-body bushwhacks I've done. Swimming through slide alder, brambles, and devil's club, so thick that you can't see the trail except directly under your feet. Then there's a steep, slippery forest. Fortunately, the path is marked fairly well with pink ribbons. The pond at 5,300 ft is a stagnant mosquito hatchery. Fortunately, running water was plentiful between the pond and the bottom of the glacier. |
