Ascent Trip Report

This COHP has 4 candidate high point areas, it took 2 visits to complete the county. I have numbered the areas a la PB and visited them as listed here.
FIRST VISIT DATED 2010-10-27 .... I went to Areas 1, 4 and 2.
SECOND VISIT DATED 2011-09-17 ... I went to Area 3 there-by completing the county.

AREA 1 ..... an easy trail/bushwack, less than 1km and 30 minutes RT.
From La Plaine at hwy junction #337/335, northwest of Terrebone, travel northwest on Blvd Laurier to a left turn on Chemin du Trait-Carre, at .7km turn right on a dirt road and travel north to its end at 1.2km (the woods). This is the TH that I used for areas 1 & 4, however I should note that on my second visit to this County I noticed that the start of the dirt road at Chemin du Trait-Carre was chained-of, so one would have walk in. I would recommend using the alternate TH described in Therese-Blainville CoHP for Area 4.
The Area 1 highpoint is at 300M on a 300 degrees magnetic compass. I should note that this whole area of Quebec is one huge table. From the TH I walked west on a trail (yellow arrow on a tree) 50M to a north-south trail (a swath in the woods), turn right (north) and at 300M the highpoiunt area is on the left. I identified two spots as possible highpoint, GPS readings of 45.80746, 73.80566 and 45.80780, 73.80570. This is a fairly open flat evergreen forest.

AREA 4 (northwest of Area 1) is listed separately in the PB Library as "LES MOULINS HIGH POINT" ...... approx 4km RT from TH.
From Area 1 I bushwacked west perhaps .3km to the Power Line right-of-way, then right (north) on a good sand track with signs of horse traffic 1.2km to the high ground area (75 meters past the 3rd Transmission Tower, directly under the center Power Line). I had to jump over a few water ditches. I chose my HP at a fairly obvious spot, GPS read 45.81309, -73.81789.
I returned (south) by staying/following the sand track all the way to the 4th Tower (1.6km) where the track turns left/winds east (.4km) back to the TH noted above for Area 1.
ADDENDUM DATED 2018-11-14: Greg study found that this is "the" HP of Les Moulins County, the other areas don't apply.

AREA 2 .... flat dense bushwack, 500M RT
From Area 1 TH we drove back to Blvd Laurier then left (north) 1.9km to house #13751 on the right, Area 2 highground is behind this house at about .2km.
We parked on Blvd Laurier at an open lot 2 houses before #13571 and bushwacked east/walked-circles in a somewhat dense evergreen forest, with some undergrowth, looking for the high ground. I tried to touch all bases but difficult to find "the" HP. I chose a spot beside a track at GPS 45.81597, -73.79887.

AREA 3 ..... service road and a short bushwack .... 2.25km, 35 minutes RT
From corner of Blvd Laurier/Chemin du Trait-Carre we drove north on Laurier .45km to the TH, a gated service road on the right which leads to a large sand quarry. The summit is to the east beyond the sand quarry. Make sure to park on Laurier and don't make the same mistake as the locked-in-fellows that we met when we got there. The 3 guys, out picking mushrooms, found the gate open when they got there so they drove in only to get locked-in. They waited hours for someone to come. When I got back in just 30 minutes he was gone ...... Rose said that they drove the grass field to the south to a culvert crossing.
I walked the service road east, arrived/crossed the sand quarry, went up a sand embankment and crossed a deep ditch to get to the start of the woods, about 1km from the TH. I bushwacked in a fairly open evergreen floor (following the same line as the service road) to the obvious HP at 125 meters. A fire pit with cut firewood, a sand track goes by the summit. My spot was at GPS 45.80956, -73.77445.
