Ascent Trip ReportOne day trip with Sean and Chris R. The plan was to car camp on Icicle Road, leave the Stuart Lake TH at 5am and climb Dragontail Peal and Little Annapurna and exit the same day.
After not much sleep due to noisy campground neighbors, we left the TH shortly after 5am. Hiked in the dark for about an hour and a half and made it to Colchuck Lake just as it was getting light. We made quick time around the lake and then went up Aasgard Pass. Sean clocked our pace up Aasgard Pass and we averaged 33 vertical feet per minute.
We got to the top of the pass at about 8:20am, took a short break then went cross-country to the base of the snowfield below the Dragontail summit ridge. We put on crampons and went up the snowfield. The summit ridge as very easy class 2 and we were on the summit at 10:30am. Great views from on top of Stuart, Colchuck, Sherpa, Enchantment Basin, Witches Tower, etc.
Next up was Little Annapurna and we got to the top at noon. I snowed a little bit on the way up and the clouds had moved in so we had no views from the top of Little A. From here we decended into Enchantment Basin, had lunch and then high-tailed it back to the car arriving at 4:30pm.
