Ascent of Mount Baker on 2022-07-17Date: | Sunday, July 17, 2022 | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | Peak: | Mount Baker | Location: | USA-Washington | Elevation: | 10781 ft / 3286 m |
Ascent Trip ReportTaking advantage of late snow we went to ski the Squak glacier. Route is very straight forward. Not a lot of crevasses open but care needed especially on the upper glacier. The weather was cloudy at the bottom, and sunny above 9000ft. The sun baked the Roman wall to corny goodness while the clouds prevented the bottom of the glacier from becoming too terrible. Great trip!
Timewise, we didn't rush it, 3:30am start, 5:30 start skinning just a tad after leaving the trail (4900ft), 1:00pm summit. 1:30pm leave summit, 2:30pm back where we stashed our shoes, 4:10pm back at the TH. |
