Ascent Trip ReportEarly in the morning, motorcycles took us to the entrance of the park at -7.889361, 112.497027. A neat, wide path leads gently upwards. At first, through cultivated fields; later, through jungle; and even later, through a strange forest. A few tents in the middle of the crater. The path to the rim is quite steep. We had to climb steep roots in several places. The top is a large field with a small, man-made (I guess) hill with a photo of the former president. Great view, clouds a little lower than the top. It didn't take long to go down the same path.
4h20 up, 3h05 down, 7h25 roundtrip.
Photos from Butak
This was a self-organized trip. Made with the help of a driver in Indonesia and a few local guides in Malaysia. Due to landslides, all parks in the Perak region in Malaysia were closed, so we substituted them with a few-day peakbagging trip in Indonesia.
